Our story
It all started with an idea. In September 2021, the team at Surfshark was investigating data privacy issues they could tackle. That's when we stumbled upon the data broker industry and its appalling lack of regulation. We decided to build a tool that would curb the unfair data collection practices of data brokers and empower people to leverage existing privacy laws. A product that would use technology to return control over personal data back to its rightful owners.
The product
Incogni is a personal data removal service. It automatically removes personal information related to you from public websites (such as people search engines) and private databases. It does so by regularly sending requests to data brokers on your behalf, because records tend to reappear once removed. Incogni will also ask data brokers to add your profile to their suppression lists, where available, to make sure your name is never listed again.
